Grace CMA Church

From a humble beginning in 1958, Grace Church of Middleburg Heights, has grown to become one of the largest, most respected institutions of faith in Northeast Ohio, serving the local community and beyond.

In 2004, the church was experiencing explosive growth and built a new 1,400 seat worship center with a goal of supporting an active congregation that wanted to actively take part in church services. Since the facility was built, the demands on the venue have magnified as the church now hosts 4 services a week with an average attendance of over 4,000 people.

As a result, the Church needed to make significant upgrades to the performance audio systems to better support the diverse and demanding production needs of their ministry.

Working closely with Grace Church staff and ministry for over a year, SoundCom carefully designed a full-featured and incredibly powerful performance sound system for the worship center that will not only elevate the regular services productions, but will also enable outside concert events that could not otherwise been possible.

This design involved detailed acoustic modeling developed by d&b audiotechnik engineers working in tandem with SoundCom’s engineering and technical teams to develop a solution that is rider friendly easily generating SPLs above 110 dB.

SoundCom installed a new d&B audiotechnik Vi series loudspeaker systems specifically designed for large venue, high performance applications. The main speaker arrays utilize Vi7P cabinet augmented with Vi subwoofers which were intelligently paired for a full-range performance capable of supporting many touring event riders.

Under balcony seating were supplemented with 5S series speakers while the upper balcony areas feature Yi series speakers all on dedicated delay zones so that all sound from the system is perfectly time aligned to every seat in the auditorium.

In addition to the dramatic upgrades to the loudspeaker systems, SoundCom installed a new DiGiCo SD8 live digital production console which was configured with a new 56 x 16 XSD series stage rack. This new control surface and frame infrastructure completely redefines the audio production capabilities for the church.

For even greater flexibility, a new DiGiCo Orange Box was provided with full MADI and Dante audio distribution support to support a Live Stream mix, personal monitoring mixing, and multi-track audio recording.

A DiGiCo Waves SoundGrid effects processor was also installed and integrated into the system delivering a broader range of plug in and effect options for the FOH engineer.
